Since 4.0 came out I had nothing but problems. I had strange resets for no reason, Strava Segments crashed the Garmin, I would lose connection to my power meters and had random warnings for non-existent turns. The beta firmwares, along with gimping functionality by disconnecting it from my phone, fixed it mostly. Today I installed 5.0 and went out on a ride with it connected to my phone and with Strava Segments turned on. Everything was perfect! No crashed, no issues with Strava Segments and not a single freeze or lost signal on my power meter. Seems like 5.0 fixed everything for me so far.
Does a light network of one device count? I've got just the Varia rear light / radar. This has worked for me with 5.00. Since upgrading to 5.00, I've had just one issue. I recharged my Di2 one night. Following morning I started the ride which for me is normal not to wait for my devices to be connected as they kick in within 20-30 seconds of starting. On this particular morning, Di2, cadence and the Varia didn't connect to my 1030. After about 10 minutes I pulled over. Paused the activity, slept and woke the unit, and the "lost" devices were all found. At the end of the activity, after it was uploaded, it alerted me that a new Di2 device was found. It had the same ID as one it already knew about. Not sure if this is a Ant+ vs BT thing?? Anyway, told it to ignore this new device. Everything has been fine since then. So aside from this one glitch, since upgrading to 5.00, I've had around 10 activities, totaling about 200km without any other issues. I suspect the one glitch was caused by the Di2 recharge somehow resetting it, so it didn't pair properly on the following activity and also brought down the other two devices in the process. I normally have paired with my 1030: Speed, HR, cadence, Varia light/radar and Di2.
