Since 4.0 came out I had nothing but problems. I had strange resets for no reason, Strava Segments crashed the Garmin, I would lose connection to my power meters and had random warnings for non-existent turns. The beta firmwares, along with gimping functionality by disconnecting it from my phone, fixed it mostly. Today I installed 5.0 and went out on a ride with it connected to my phone and with Strava Segments turned on. Everything was perfect! No crashed, no issues with Strava Segments and not a single freeze or lost signal on my power meter. Seems like 5.0 fixed everything for me so far.
Yeah because one ride is a showcase for how great it is...
Aren't you a peach. If you don't have anything helpful to add or a review...don't bother posting anything. We are all just trying to get our devices stable and running good. OP said it worked for him so far. That is one reviewer who is happy. I too have no issues yet with satellites lost or suddenly accelerating to 130mph on a bike. All of my Bluetooth devices are working again as well.
spookyload - thanks for this. I downgraded to 3.90 because 4.0 was such a mess. Looking forward to things working again and getting full value out of the device.
Rode with 5.0 today, only issue still remaining, but it wasn't mentioned in the release notes as solved, is the Garmin Edge Remote issue. If i turned off Phone connection it worked flawlessly, otherwise sporadic disconnects (red blinking light).
Rode with 5.0 today. The 1030 disconnected the powermeter (SRM via Ant+) twice after a longer stop and didn't pair with it again automatically. I had to remove the powermeter and add it again to get it connected. Still the same problem as with 4.0...
No issues on a short 10km commute ride to work today. I'm only connected to a hub speed sensor and Garmin Vector2 PM so not doing a whole lot. Ride uploaded quickly through my iPhone as usual.
First experience with V5.00 is superb. I had to pair with the phone again, but after this - Livetrack is stable - Upload is stable - No locks / sensor loss
I also tried to kill the Garmin Connect app, and after a while, the Edge 1030 was able to reconnect to the phone and do the job
