ActivityProfile

Hi Garmin Team,

how can I add a activity profile for running or walking on the Edge 1030.
It is a shame that such a expensive and sophisticated device only is ready for cycling!

Is there maybe a possibility to add other sport activity with the SDK?
Or editing the FIT file?

Regards
  • ...because it is a „ULTIMATIVE GPS BIKE COMPUTER“ (Garmin announcement)!

(and if all the feauters would work as promised - yes, it woult be ULTIMATIVE)
  • Agree that it's very heavily weighted to cycling, but the beauty is that it's pretty customisable and you can edit the data screens to whatever you want. So while my Stand Up Paddling profile is a mountain bike profile under the covers, it just shows me the fields that are relevant to SUP-ing for me. I even found the ignore strava segments setting which was previously beeping at me when passing under a bridge that had a strava segment starting near it. Not any more...

And why can you navigate by foot???

If you do not have nothing with sence to contribute, you better be quiet!

At the home page> select the 3 bars at the bottom lhs of the screen> select activity profiles> at the bottom of the screen select “create new”

You can select to copy an existing profile or use a stored template. Rename the new profile whatever you like.

Once it has been created you can then modify how it appear from the “apply profile” screen by changing the data screens.

    of course!
but how to change the data "Default Ride Type"????

Everytime i take the device for walking/running/hiking i have to change the activity type on Garmin Connect by hand.
Is this the right way with such a device?
    I think NO!
  • Sorry for having offended you, but that‘s what I meant: you cannot rename or extend activity‘s ride-type-list because it is a cycle computer.

Likewise. In your original post you didn't mention the extended ride type You will need to contact garmin support to suggest that an addition be made
  • I agree with all of the above. It would be good if you could select another activity type. Doing a quick scan on other devices like the Forerunner which is predominately for running, it does allow bike, swim, etc profiles as well. Surely it's not a big extension to add this to the 1030.
Having said that, I'm not going to be making an official request to Garmin for this, until we have a few of the more pressing bugs fixed. I'd prefer they concentrate on a few of the disasters outlined in these forums of some of the core functionality before moving on to "nice to have" features.
  • Hi Garmin Team,

is it possible ot change the Sport type from a datafield (not an app!!!) with "MESG_TYPE_SESSION"?
How to get the session instance on my own datafield?

    Thank You
