Has anyone ever managed to get the transfer of files between Garmin devices to work? e.g. Following the instructions at https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge1030/EN-US/GUID-22E5C24E-6C9E-416E-94B5-D6DF1F329CD0.html has never worked for me - at step 6, I never see any nearby connections - there's still just a spinning circle in the middle of the screen as it tries to find connections. I've tried between my 1030 and 1000 in both directions, between my 1030 and my wife's Explore 1000, between my 1000 and my wife's Explore 1000,and between my 1030 and a friend's 1000, with no success on any attempt. All the units have Bluetooth enabled, and can all BT connect to their respective phones without problem, so BT seems to be working fine.
I had friends visiting in January 2016, and we tried file sharing on our three Edge 1000's. No joy. We all saw the spinning wheel.
When I bought my Edge 1030, I tried between the 1030 and the 1000. No joy in either direction.
One of the software updates for the 1030 supposedly corrected a problem with file sharing, but by then, I'd sold the 1000. One of the Garmin folks who frequent this forum assured me he could make it work between a 1030 and a 1000, or two 1030's, or two 1000's. I think there was a fix for the 1000 as well. Is your 1030 reasonably up to date on software? (I wouldn't put 4.0 on, if I were you.) How about the 1000's?
Before FW12, it was a hit oy miss experience. Since FW12.20, it won't work at all. If you have a paid account with Rwgps, you can use their IQ widget on the Edge. My wife "pin" the ride for the day and we both can have access and download the file with our Edge 1030. It's working fine.
Have sorted it with Garmin its an issue with ver 5.2 on 1030+ have installed 4.1 as per garmin recommendations and I can now transfer between all 4 devices
