live track doesnt work with version 4.0

Live track has allways worked for me on my 1030 with no issues but suddenly it wouldnt start
after some investigation i realised that it was because it allready was startet in garmin connect mobile where i then could stop it manually, after i stopped it manually in connect mobile it starts just fine as allways but wont stop after the activity is finished..
so its not like others have reported that it wont start.... not it starts allright but it wont stop again and offcourse it cant start the next livetrack then because a session is allready started
  • After upgrading to firmware version 4.0 it's seems as if things only getting worst from update to update. Live track only seems to work as I monitored the app is still running the entire activity. However when I finished my ride and saved the activity the Live track kept working so I stopped it from the Garmin Connect app but for some reason this doesn't seems to make any impression on the device which keeps looking for live track (blinking eye on the notification bar). Not only that, no actual data can be seen with through the e-mail that was sent as my wife confirmed she couldn't see where I'm and I also tried to check what's being tracked afterwards (as I'm using extended live track) and only got the following message: " The activity isn't yet completed, but the tracking session has ended". with no signs of any tracking at all.
Last week it was the same and 2 weeks ago the tracking lasted for a few Kilometers and then it stopped.
In the past at least I was able to make it work but not anymore.
Other then that Audio Prompts isn't working any more (I'm supposed to get my heart rate every 3 minutes but that's broken as well), the workout wasn't uploaded even though I tried to sync via Garmin Connect (worked only after I disabled the Bluetooth in my cell phone and turn it back on) and usual stuff of unrealistic Calories measure (1600 calories for 72 minutes workout - yhaa right!). I really wish I didn't buy this computer as so many features of it aren't working. Every update seems to make things worst. I wish I could get back to 3.8 version without risking losing all my data at least there the Live track used to work and it is very important to me as a safety feature while riding alone.
  • I don't think reverting back the Edge software will solve the Live Track issues, it's more likely a GCM update that broke the Live Track I have the same issues with my Edge 820 and my Edge 1030.

Alan's post has a good list of the files you can backup from your Edge device if you revert back.

  • Upgraded also, same problem with livetrack that I have always had since buying 1030 last month, stops after a kilometer or 2. The unit seems more stable with 4.0, not automatically rebooting anymore and all ant+ items quickly recognized.
  • after noticing my livetrack wouldnt stop after use unless stopped manually from connect app i did what i allways do when i find issues with new Garmin software (did a backup of all my .fit files, did a factory reset which deleted all files and reinstalled my backup files) and voila my live track works perfectly again :)
but still seems to be a issue with BLE sensors freezing so i only use ant+

Today was the first time out with 4.0 and all indications were that Live Track was functioning normally. However, when my wife clicked the invite link, she was taken to the normal map page, a blue background screen with the normal "speed" etc readouts but no map or tracking ever appeared. I got home, saved the ride and looked at her PC screen and sure enough, no map and no tracks of my ride. Once I connected the device to my PC via the cable, it took two sync attempts launched from within Garmin Express to have my ride show up in Garmin Connect even though it had been saved and uploaded from the device. I've never had any issues with Live Track prior to 4.0.

I got the exact same results with Live Track today as Galk did. Wife saw nothing on the linked page. Just the raw page setup, no map, no tracks.

Just did a clear all data and settings after making backups of the .fit files. Reloaded backups and am ready for the next ride to see if Live Track works.
