Strava Routes fail to download to Edge 1030

The Strava Routes Connect IQ app will no longer download to the Edge 1030 for routes that have been recently created or edited (on the Strava website). Even an extremely simplified sample route (0.5 miles on a bike path with no turns) will not download. Note that previously created Strava Routes still seem to download correctly.

After selecting from the list of routes in the app, pressing "Navigate Routes" shows "Downloading" with the spinner on the display, then almost immediately fails with the small "IQ!" error icon. (Also, occasionally shows Bluetooth error -3 when it fails to return the list. Does this take an inordinate amount of time for everyone?)

This was an issue with firmware version 3.9.0 and also now with 4.0.0.

Are there any Connect IQ logs on the Edge 1030 that record what is actually going on? The errors from the app are nonexistent.

Did something change with the version 3.40 of the Strava Routes Connect IQ app released on April 27th, 2018?

I was having problems with this yesterday. I was just getting the bluetooth error. Now I can see a list of routes but they won't load. I'm using android.
The problem only started after firmware 4.00

iPhone 7, iOS 11.3, GCM 4.6.0.18, Strava Routes ConnectIQ app version 3.40.

Similar to Pete, I get the list of routes (or the occasional Bluetooth error, mostly -3 but also -300). When I get the list of Strava Routes (which seems to take an inordinate amount of time), any route created or edited before April 27, 2018 (the date the Strava Routes ConnectIQ app was automatically updated to version 3.40) downloads fine, any route created or edited after that date won't download to the 1030. FWIW, I had the same problem with Edge 1030 firmware 3.9.0; the 4.0.0 update didn't resolve it.

Logging out of Strava on the 1030 not only doesn't correct the problem, I now get prompted by the 1030 to log into Strava ***every*** time I open the Strava Routes app on the 1030 (despite checking the "Remember me" box). The message I get on the 1030 is, "To complete Connection (sic), open the Garmin Connect Mobile App on your phone." The message on the phone says, "Connect IQ: Strava Routes needs to log you in" (Cancel/Sign In).

FYI, deleting and reinstalling the ConnectIQ app doesn't correct the either the problem (a) downloading new routes to the 1030 or (b) the new, incessant app login prompts.
  • Exact same issue with here, iPhone 7 latest Connect IQ app ,I reinstalled it, just updated edge to 4.00 now phone will not connect at all or my Vivioactive 3 , looks like we are back to 1030 release date when nothing worked.

Exactly the same issue for me. I can see all the routes but when I select 'navigate', I receive an error message:

    Trouble connecting to the server
    Error Code: 0

    Yep, same as original poster.
iPhone X, GC latest, whichever it is, 1030 is on 4.01
  • Same issue here but using Android 8.0, latest version of GCM and 1030 on latest firmware.

    Continually get Bluetooth error -2.

Have tried repairing phone and reauthorising Strava. Still get the same result.

This was working for me prior to the latest 1030 firmware.
  • I spoke with Garmin on this. Strava made a change to their API. Garmin are working to make that change in their code.
  • All, we have pushed code behind the scenes to resolve the strava issues and testing confirms this issue to be resolved. Thank you for your feedback, this helped us to quickly identify and resolve the issue.
