Hardware warranty should it be extended,?

Just seen a response to one of my posts saying that since someone was having problems with there 1030 garmin had offered them a refurbished unit as it was six months after they had bought it.

Was wondering if all the early adopters when the unit had been released (like myself) might have problems with the unit caused by crashing, resetting and freezing of the unit might be putting strain on its internal parts as they are being pushed to there limit?

Strange that after a period of six months that a refurbished unit is offered when I would expect a new unit as a warranty replacement for the price we paid.

Why has garmin got refurbished units to offer already when the units are month's old,?

Is all the software issue's that everyone is having going to cause the unit to fail eventually?

Standard warranty is a year I think but we are all not getting a chance to actually use the unit properly so surety garmin should extend the warranty to 24 or 36 months as a sorry for the problems.

What does everyone else think if this 1030 fails after the year's warranty and we hardly used it correctly and for the cost should a brand new unit not be offered automatically for a longer period of time than a year?

Sounds to much as a win win situation for garmin and not the end user?
