New 1030 user - trying to send waypoints from BaseCamp to Edge 1030 - Mac User

Hello
I am a long time Garmin user going back to the days of the IQ3600. My Edge 1000 is failing, and I recently purchased an Edge 1030. I used to be able to send waypoints from BaseCamp to the 1000, but don't understand how to do it with the 1030.

Is it necessary to get an internal sd card for this?

I use the Waypoints to show on the map of the Edge, and to occasionally route to them.

Lastly, what file do i Customer on the Edge 1030 so that my name, phone number and email show on the boot screen? I did this for the 1000 but forgot how

I am using a Mac, High Sierra version 10.13.4

Thanks
Ted

To answer your last question, you need to enter the text you want to appear in startup.txt in the /Garmin folder on the 1030. Can't answer your other question.

Whatever worked for the 1000 should work for the 1030. The 1030 isn't very different from the 1000.

You don't need an SD card to do this (for any of the units).

I have locations in a folder in Basecamp. I export them (the folder) as a gpx file and copy that file to "\Garmin\NewFiles".

The waypoints show up in "locations" on the Garmin.

    Maps.

Some maps are provided on SD cards.

  • There was an issue with Basecamp. We have released public beta 4.01 to address this issue. Please see the post here for more details.
