Recovery time

Hi,
I have Fenix5X and used to have Edge 1000 and now replaced it with the 1030.
On both the Fenix and the 1000 my recovery time was somewhere between 12-24 hours depending on the intensity of the ride. With the 1030 I am getting 4 days recovery time. I know that this value is a learned parameter that should become more accurate as you ride more, but I've been using the 1030 for two months by now, and I do not see any decline in my recovery time...
Any idea what could be going on here?

Another question while I'm here... :-)
In few rides I have a "*" mark at the end of the date - any idea what this means?

Thanks,
Itay

I get the same recovery times as mentioned on here! I follow them somewhat and seem to be 'de-training' at points according to my 1030 lol

I use a HRV app to gauge recovery. Far more reliable and has more data as you use it more. The HRV4Training app is very good.
  • Can anybody confirm that recovery time work without using only heart rate and no power meter? Edge 1030 usually shows me 4 days recovery. I did short recovery ride today - only 30 minutes, and recovery time is 37 hours !!!

I was getting 3 or 4 day recovery times. I read in the forums that it needs to have some history before it settles down. It seemed to last for weeks, but one day it settled down. I think it’s still a bit high, eg a 60km ride requires 26 hours recovery, but given I’m now in my 50”s, perhaps it knows better than me??? I regularly do a 30 morning ride, and it’s suggesting 18 hours recovery. Mind you, I push pretty hard.
I only use HR. I don’t have a power meter (yet).

68 hours after my last ride!
  • I am wondering if setting LOG HRV option on, would help to estimate recovery time. According to manual: if HRV LOG sets on, device will recorder hrv during the activity
  • All of the measured variables are completely irrational (Calories - way too high (more than twice of Strava value), Recovery time - way too high, VO2Max- as well (It calculated me as 73 and there is no way I'm there)).
I'm just ignoring those values as this is the last problem I have with this frustrating device.
There is also a bug causing the rest HR value to settle on 30 bpms every time I update my device might effect recovery time calculation.

It looks like recovery time is fixed in firmware 6.3 - at least now I am getting reasonable times...

By the way - is there an option to get the popup that I used to get after 12 minutes of ride - telling me that recovery is ok? because I am no longer getting it.

  • because I am no longer getting it.

12 minutes? I was seeing it at around 6 minutes, but since upgrading to 6.00, it is now popping up less than half the time. I haven't upgraded to 6.30 yet.
