1030 turns off during ride

Hello

I have had my 1030 for 3 months now, and manily used for indoor training, but now I have startet on outdoor training.
I have never had any problems with the 1030 before, but 2 days in a row, I have experienced that it suddently shuts down during a ride, I am not sure, but it could be in relation to some Strava segments starting.
I can start it again, and when it starts it asks if I want to save my ride, if I cancel, I can continue the ride in the same file.

Does anybody have suggestions on what to do?
  • Can you post the Garmin\Debugging\err_log.txt file?

I have the very same issue. I’ve never had problems with shutdowns and for 3 rides in a row and always when I follow a strava segment the device shutdown.

After 7 months it is unbelievable.
  • I'm having the same issues as well. Seems to happen when a segment that I starred begins. Unit just turns off. When I turn it back on all seems normal. Seems to be random in that it's happening on maybe 1 of 8/10 segments. Maybe 1 out of 4 rides..
  • Sorry to say I don't know how to download logs. I'm on a Mac so I don't have access to the debugger program from Garmin and I don't have a code from Garmin to automatically "send report". Searched through the 1030 mounted to the Mac and couldn't find an error log... If you give me specifics on downloading the error log I'll post. Thx in advance.
  • It would be in the Garmin\Debugging folder on the Edge when mounted to the Mac and would be called err_log.txt
  • Okay, did a search on the Garmin for .txt files and got these two that appear to be error logs? I'm uploading them both. The crash happened around 10:25am but one error log was time stamped right before the crash (about 10 min before) and the other at the end of the ride; not sure if there were two errors or not. See below for the two error logs. Hope this is the right and helpful information!

  • Just did a quick ride and happened again. Happened like yesterday about 10 min into the ride on the first starred segment - this was a different segment than the one yesterday. If it's helpful I can upload the same text file that I did for the earlier rice, although I imagine it's the same issue. Forgot to say that I'm using an iPhone X 11x.x ios with phone connected to Garmin and Beats earphones (playing Spotify, lol).
  • Can you post the Garmin\Debugging\err_log.txt file?

Coming here, the logs from the last days where it has turned off
  • Today it happened again, and I can confirm that it did it just after starting a Strava starred segment
