Garmin 1030 not auto syncing with Garmin Connect + LiveTrack issues + others....

Hi, I'm having multiple problems with my Garmin 1030

My setup:
Garmin 1030
Google Pixel
Garmin Connect + LiveTrack set up to email friends
Garmin Connect auto upload to Strava

My wife also has a 1030 and the only difference to my set up is she has a Google Pixel 2. I've previously used a Garmin 820 with my Google Pixel and it worked flawlessly. So I don't believe my phone is to blame.

My main problems are that the 1030 reports bluetooth connected and livetrack started but at the end of ride it doesn't seem to auto upload to Garmin Connect on my phone. I have to click on the 'sync' button on the app for it to upload (not all the time, but most of the time). Also the LiveTrack emails are not reliably being sent. And sometimes the ride finishes and uploads and livetrack says it is still going (I have to manually end the livetrack).

So, If I had to guess the issue is between the 1030 and Garmin Connect. Garmin connect says the 1030 is connected.... It just isn't doing its thing properly.... What now??? What should I do?

List of other issues:
- It has frozen a number of times and required me to hold the power button down for 20 seconds to reset it.
- It only auto syncs with garmin connect mobile app randomly. It works some days, and others it doesn't. Having to manually sync really defeats the purpose of the unit.
- About 7 times now when I manually sync with gamin express on the PC it reports that "Some files could not be uploaded to garmin connect" + "You may want to manually remove these files from the device". I then use the Corrupt Time Fixer tool on this site and I'm successfully able to upload to strava.
- The Strava IQ app crashes and restarts the 1030
- The Strava IQ app only works about 50% and the other times it reports a bluetooth error.

Is my device faulty? Or are all 1030's buggy?

Do I need a warranty replacement?

    Garmin, when will the 1030 be a working unit? Mine is currently useless.

    Garmin,

    As the unit is not fit for purpose, what is the process for getting a full refund? If I talk to my retailer that I bought it from, they will just want to warranty the unit for a new one. The problem isn't with the unit, it is with the Garmin software. A new unit won't solve the issue. The Garmin 1030 is a dead duck.
  • I am rapidly going off the 1030. Same auto sync issues as everyone else. How can it suddenly stop working and then be incapable of being fixed? Should have learned my lesson after the constant crashes of the 810. Time start researching non-Garmin devices.

    It's just a massive, big bag of fail...

    Uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Connect on my phone.
    Reset Garmin 1030 to factory reset (did both reset options)
    Trying to pair and setup phone and 1030 ...... The progress bar has been on roughly 30% for about 15 mins now....... looks stuck to me...

    Why is this all so difficult with Garmin ????
  • Come on, Garmin. These are basic features of the device and need to be resolved. Your (lack of) communication with your customers is appalling.

    Trying to pair and setup phone and 1030 ...... The progress bar got stuck at ~30% for at least 30 minutes so I cancelled out of that screen.
    It seemed to have paired properly......

    It now starts the live track but it stops after about 14 mins or so.
    Then when I get to my destination and stop the garmin, the livetrack eye symbol on the 1030 remains.
    The ride does not auto upload. This is getting infuriating.....
    I have to restart my phone and the garmin and then wait a while before it finally syncs and uploads my ride.

  • Same issues here! Live track won't stop. Even the connection issues remain. When I turn on the edge Phone connects fine, one minute later it drops connection and reconnects but then the syncing doesn't work and the device freezes.
