Elevation and speed issues

Is it just me? It would appear since the last update, my most recent couple of rides using my 1030 has been acting very strange. Today I noticed that I had no gradient on climbs. I then switched screens and to be amazement I had climbed to the dizzy height of 20,001 meters, but showed no ascent...

During a turbo session (no speed sensor attached) I was able to achieve the most incredible max speed of 348.9km/h...

I installed firmware 3.90 and noticed that the the device doesn't show the accumutated climb or descend of a route.
  • Dear Garmin users. Can anyone help with this? Should I go down the lines of a full reset/rebuild?

Yet further strangeness as my ride yesterday uploaded to Garmin Connect recording over 6,000 meters of ascent and yet the device still had zero on the screen. BTW, if I can actually climb 6,000 meters in an 80km ride, I really should be on the Olympics road race team or signed up as a pro!

The same is with the courses in 1030.
In garmin connect elevations look good - or close to reality.
But after exporting courses to 1030 elevations are completely wrong even 100-300%(asc. remaining, asc.to next crs.pt.).
Do not expect fast repair, they do not care.
  • Hi did you get a solution for the wrong altitude?

My Garmin Edge 1030 has now started to show absolutely wrong altitude. No matter what i do then it starts at 20.000m and during riding it shows somewhere between 13.000 - 18.000m

I have done a reset, looked for dust in the two holes on the back and tried to manually set the altitude based on my location but it returns immediately to 20.000m

    Any suggestions?

    Hi there

it went back and got replaced for a new device. I had to log a ticket with Garmin, they asked me to do all the usual soft and hard resets followed by supplying them various files so they could analyse what was going on. It took them a while to get it sorted with various to-ing and fro-ing to various Garmin boffins and they decided that the altimeter was faulty.

I hope that helps to help you. If its doing what you say above, it's the same as mine. 20,000 meters was where I rode for ages. No wonder I was knackered!!
