My Garmin speed sensors obviously transmit ANT+ only. However my power meters and heart rate monitors are all dual ANT+ and BLE. Is there any reason to pick one over the other? I don't see any mention of one using more battery than the other from the transmitting device. It looks like ANT+ records once per second, while the BLE transmit many times per second (but the Garmin device I think still only records once per second?)
Aside from the power meters, I do see that the Elite HRV app states my Wahoo Tickr needs to use BLE to record meaningful Heartrate Variability. So I suppose I''ll use BLE for that, but unsure about the rest...
Unless I hear otherwise that HRV is useless or only good for those that really know what to do with it (which I don't yet). I see that Garmin adds an option to record this data, tho I've not tried it.
Lastly, I pretty much have to disconnect my phone to be able to use my Garmin Remote (due to known Bluetooth issues that will, at this rate, never be fixed). Has anyone found that this also applies to BLE sensors? It's not caused issues for me yet to use a power meter in BLE mode while having the remote attached.
