SDHC card bigger than 8GB doesn’t recognises installed OSM maps

I installed on 16GB, 32GB and 64GB SDHC cards OSM-maps using the Garmin map installer. Opening the Garmin directory on the SD card, it shows the maps regularly installed. Switching now the device on and looking for this maps, so they are not shown in the map list however the Garmin maps stored already in the device memory are visible. By copying the OSM-map files from the SD card to the Garmin device memory, they are visible and can be used. Installing those maps using a 8 GB SDHC card, it works.
Is there a restriction to 8GB SD cards to read the OSM-maps from the SD card?
What could be the reason for such a behavior?

Should support up to 2TB, have you tried a reformat?

Affirmative, all SD card were quick formatted in FAT32. I do confirm, that the unit Edge 1030 with installed SD card is able to install the OSM maps on the device, so that the maps are visible on the PC using the explorer and opening the Garmin directory of the device, just by trying to activate the map in the navigation menu of the device, the map is not visible.
It seems to me strange, that the SD card is accessible for thePC map installer but not for the Edge 1030 reading software.

Is the file structure correct? Where on the card are the map files?

Where are you getting the maps?

You can copy the *.img file directly to the \Garmin folder.

You can use the following to change the internal map name.

The OSM-Maps *.img are located in \Garmin folder and are working correctly with a 8 GB SDHC card. By coping the *.img files in the /Garmin folder of a bigger SDHC card, they became invisible in the Edge 1030 navigation-map information menu, although the bigger SDHC card were previously formatted in FAT32

Possibly the cluster size. Up to 8GB will be formatted by windows to a 4K cluster, any bigger and it'll be 8k or 16k. Might be worth seeing if you can reformat and change the cluster size to 4k.

With this freeware you can format the micro SD card in FAT32 with 4K cluster.

Thanks Erik, the software works fine and the OSM maps now can be read from the FAT32 4kb cluster formatted SD card

Hi Sommerfliege,
How many maps do you have on the card and how many GB are all the maps in the card?
I have the issue that my 64GB card (FAT32 4kB !!!) is recognized and the maps (some of them) also are available on the device. But only maps which need memory <8GB. All other maps are not available.
It means maps A; B; C; .....M are available maps N...Z are not available. If I delete the map A than map N is available.

Have someone the same issue?
