1030 dropping Power Meter Connections

My 1030 has been having some issues connecting to ANT+/BT devices, specifically my Di2, my Pioneer power meter and my Stages Power Meter. Behavior as follows:

Di2 BT: was nearly impossible to add. I would scan for it and nothing. Then it came up as found and was able to add it. No issues since.

Pioneer Power Meter: 1hr into the ride, it drops the connection and can't resume. I've tried deleting the connecting and re-adding but no luck. Then it finds it without me adding it but I can't actually add it or see it in the device list. Battery changed; no difference

Stages (V1) Power Meter: Has latest firmware. Seems to be working now but last ride it dropped it mid ride. Fresh battery; no difference.

Also have other speed, cadence sensors; smart trainer and no issues with those.

Is there a way on the device to remove the devices and try adding them again.

Help!

  • No power drops here with: Edge 1030 and Assioma Duo pedals (riding indoor, though only 3m away from my Googe wifi access point).

This morning, I'm testing beta 3.85. But wasn't an issue on b3.82 either. Only Edge remote is challenged, but let's see if b3.85 fixes that ;-)
  • So far have you found 3.85 reliable? If so, might try it in the hopes that it might address this. Very frustrating.
  • No issues with fw3.85 this mornings ride...

This may or may not help your particular issue but...
Stages power meters (especially v1) can have battery compartment issues which can cause dropouts. The battery door is very easily damaged and was a pretty poor design in the first place. Stages will send you a new one which can help.

Also I've found that if you very gently bend up the battery connector which sits under the battery, you can get better contact and less (no more) dropouts.
  • My stages PM gets dropped after the update to 3.90. I have to remove the device and pair again. It worked perfectly with 3.80 It loses the PM after I stop for a short coffee break etc. All other device remain paired.

Garmin peeps--why is this? You've gone backwards withe BT connectivity and the stages PM. Please advise a fix.

    thank you

Just to report that 1030 APAC v3.7 works fine with DZero Red with ANT+. No drop and works 100%.
  • No power drops with: Edge 1030 3.9 and Stages cycling or Quarq
  • Different bike this morning with different stages--same thing happened again.

Did a ride. Stopped for coffee. Got back on bike all working except for stages PM.
  • Are you paired to Stages over ANT or BLE?

It looks to be ant. However I do have the option now for ble when I reconnct the PM. This BLE option appears to be new.

Is the BLE the preferred connection?
