Guarantee after repairing 6 months???

Well, my Garmin hit the floor and it's screen broke. I bought it in November in Spain so 2 years guarantee. I contacted Garmin and sent me a budget but told me my guarantee will only last 6 months!!! Come on, I would understand this 6 months guarantee for the screen repairing but not for the whole device... What if something not related to screen crashes after 6 months? I should have my complete guarantee, shouldn't l????

  • Garmin won't repair your unit. They replace it with another reburbished unit.

    Garmin has no requirement of offering g a 2-year warranty on the replacement.

    You are stuck with whatever Garmin offers.

    You ask for a repair, If Garmin choose to replace the unit rather than fix it, I would think you should keep your original warranty.
    The replaced unit is an equivalent to new.

    It's not Garmins opinion.

    Keep in mind that these devices are built in one location somewhere overseas (Tiawan?).

    Having people skilled enough to repair these with parts in multiple places in the world would be too expensive.

    It appears Garmin ships (presumably, a bunch at a time) broken units back to the factory were there are already people and parts available.

    The reburbished units are returned back to various Garmin offices to be made available to quickly send a replacement unit.

    They don't fix and return your broken unit because it would take too long (months, probably) or be much too expensive.

    Sorry but that do not explain the 6 months warranty. This 6 months should be the rule only for units repaired/exchanged after the end of the 2 year warranty.
  • In Denmark - which is in the EU like Spain and Portugal and consequently shares a lot of consumer law - I have had my Fenix 3 replaced under warranty. I received a refurbished unit with a new 2 year warranty. I suppose the same would happen in Spain and Portugal.

    In that light, it seems a bit strange that Garmin will not give 2 year warranty on a refurbished unit when the customer pays for the replacement.

    It wasn't suppose to explain the 6 month warranty.

    It just explains why Garmin won't fix-and-return your unit.

    It was €250.
    the thing is that the Garmin screen broke due to my fault. I understand I have to pay for that, what I don't understand is the only 6 months guarantee...
