Just to elaborate. I had a 9 month old Edge 1030 that shut down after about 15 seconds after switching on in July. After 12 hours, the Garmin switched on ok and kept working. it kept switching off again in September so I contacted Garmin who replaced the device last week. I switched in on yesterday and the device switched off after 15 seconds. this happened a number of times. I was able to switch it on later yesterday and it worked ok. The device has now shut down again today after 15 seconds and I cant get it to start up. The device did say it needs updating from software 7.5 to 8, but the device does stay on long enough to update. Any thoughts, as it is odd I have the same problem on 2 different devices. Any thoughts?
What happens when the Garmin is plugged into a computer? Does Garmin Express recognize it?
Hi, sorry for delay. I don’t have access to Garmin Express. My laptop recognises the Garmin Device but as I only have a work laptop I am unable to download Garmin Express. Spoke to Garmin. They suggested to same to force the update as they believe my device is caught in an update loop. The only option is to replace the device which Garmin will do.
I had a similar issue after have simply changed of profile or changed my settings, I do not remember.
Result a shutdown after have switched it on. Then I reset all and it solved the issue.
But after this I noted that the vivid color vanished, replaced by pale colors on all colored screens. This "bug" requested a replacement of my 1030...
just to add that I have the same problem. after 7 months no problem, it began the morning after it pushed the Ver. 8 firmware update a few weeks ago. it is intermittent and i have, so far, been getting it going with a combination of soft resets and repeated attempts to initiate a ride. sometimes one try, this morning about 6 or 8 tries to get it going. cannot find any particular sequence of retries, resets that reliably work. now I'm noticing a blue border sneaking onto the screen.... :-(
