Crash and broken screen

Well, I crashed yesterday in my mtb. No serious injury but my brand new edge1030 screen broke. Although It wore silicon cover, it had an impact and is broken. Apparently works fine but would like to repair it. Does anybody know approximately cost? I guess it has to be via garmin sat, or not?
  • Sorry to hear. I believe Garmin is the only authorized repair. My experience with their watches (I don't haves a 1030) is that they don't repair them, but instead exchange them for a refurbished unit and recycle the parts for other refurbished units. That way they can get you a unit quickly. The costs of the refurbished unit they offer depends on how long the model has been out, but in my experience, ~25-35% of the original price. It is disappointing to have to dish out more money, but the policy is more generous than most companies. If your unit is brand new, you could check your credit card company about their insurance policy for accidents.
  • Thanks for your response, it's really annoying having my 1030 broken. I've sent a query to farming and waiting them to answer, let's see what happens. First time I hear about the credit card, I'll ask
