Biked 120 miles on Sunday, iOS Garmin Connect reports 0 intensity minutes.

Assuming the Edge 1030 doesn't work with Intensity Minutes? That's a huge bug in my opinion. My guess is that only my Fenix 5X data is showing there.
  • I'm pretty sure the 1030 doesn't measure intensity minutes.

I know some of the wearables do though. My Vivoactive 3 does.
  • Did you use a chest HR strap, or wrist device? I rode twice this week w/Edge 820 and HR strap and it recorded intensity minutes.
Brief review of intensity minutes in link.

As fallingrock indicates Edge devices do not record intensity minutes. That feature is only available on compatible wearable devices.

ed2kayak do you own a watch that has the intensity minutes feature?

Yes Vivoactive 3, sorry for confusion.

  • Yeah, had a HRM with the 1030. Yes, also own a Fenix 5X. Any particular reason the Edge can't record intensity minutes? Seems odd that Garmin's flagship bike computer doesn't have this feature and it makes the intensity minutes per week feature on iOS about worthless to me. Do I just keep an excel spreadsheet with this data?
  • I have a Vivosmart HR that I wear 24 / 7 (except for charging) and my rides always contribute intensity minutes.
  • Why would I wear a watch when I'm running an Edge 1030 with a heart rate monitor?
  • I’ve got exactly the same issue with the Edge 1030 not syncing intensity minutes, what a disappointment!!
  • I agree with everyones frustrations with intensity minutes not getting recorded. But I don't believe that it is something that needs fixed on the 1030. Garmin should make a change in garmin connect that will check any activity you upload and update your intensity minutes appropriately. That way activities from other sources would work as well (Zwift and other virtual activities). Also they need to make it so those changes would then sync back to the watches. Having spent thousands of dollars on the garmin ecosystem, I am perplexed that they don't communicate the data to each other. Especially when the perfect mechanism to do so is already there, garmin connect.

This inexplicable limitation renders Intensity Minutes an entirely useless metric on Garmin Connect for anyone with multiple Garmin devices.

Of course an Edge owner would track a ride using the Edge, rather than their watch.

Given that it is useless, is there a way to disable it entirely?
