OSM maps on the 1030

Frequently traveling to other countries, I've been downloading the openfietsmap tiles and putting them on the SD card in my 1000 .. they show up and can be turned on and off in the "maps" function of the profile .

On the 1030 using the same SD card they do not show up at all in the device menu .

Is there something I'm missing ?

I also have this problem. It was a big surprise for me that OSM maps suddenly stopped working. I know for sure that at the beginning of the summer there were no problems with them, everything was displayed correctly. Since then there have been several firmware updates on the Edge 1030, as well as BaseCamp and MapInstall have been updated too. All OSM maps are always installed on the device only through MapInstall. Maps are installed by default on an SD card. This utility correctly recognizes all installed maps on the device and now. Reinstalling them does not help. It seems the problem began with the appearance of new firmware 6.00-6.30, and maybe earlier.

The latest version of Mapinstall doesn't install IMG maps correctly...that's where the problem is. If you go back to Basecamp 4.6.2 and the version of Mapinstall that comes with it, you should be able to install IMG maps correctly.
  • Why not just copy the img file directly?
  • Agreed Basecamp 4.7 map install is broken.. The only issue with going back to 4.6.2 that I have seen was the any Folders / Lists / Courses etc created in 4.7 aren't available in 4.62.

They will still be in your PC though but in a database folder named 4.7, so you can recover them from there.

You are right, in fact, installing a previous version of MapInstall solved the problem with OSM maps. Now everything works as it should. I would never have thought that the new version could destroy the basic functionality. Many thanks for your help.
  • I have download installed Romania OSM maps , generic routable

With gps in demo mode I simulate navigation to a point and routing seems that it works way better than Garmin maps

All good but when I try to zoom out , after +800 m zoom level map is blank and I have only the triangle that display my current position

Is this normal behaviour ? or is something from Garmin 1030?

Do I have to do something else beside copy paste the map?
