UT 800 light rattles on 1030 mount

When my UT 800 light is attached to the bottom of the 1030 mount there is a bit of play there which means the light rattles.
The older but slightly shorter mount which came with the light does not have this problem
Is the underside of the new mount only designed for the battery pack and is there a compatible longer 1030 mount available for my light?
  • Same here, have a UT800 and a 1030 mount and the 1030 one that I use the most has gone loose, the other is still OK so seems it's the mount not the light that is wearing. Contacted Garmin support yesterday and will see what they say but seems like a design flaw.
  • I am giving Blu-Tack a go as a solution :-)
  • Getting mine replaced under warranty (just the mount).
  • Any update from Garmin on this??????

I am no longer using my UT800 because of this, as there is a danger of the UT800 falling off...

    any news on this Shawn?
  • Sorry for the delay. I will get an update on this.
  • Here the same problems. The rattle sucks. I moved back to a K-edge mount. Problem solved but I cannot use the 1030 battery pack anymore ;-(
I would be great if Garmin would think over some functionalities. Why does the battery pack not have a led light for upcomming traffic. Would be a great addition.
It would also be great if the 1030 battery pack also had a Go-Pro mount to use it with other Garmin edge computers.
  • Garmin agreed to replace mine but then sent an old style short mount without the attachment on the bottom, so far they haven't responded back to send me the right one.

Same problem here. I have the UT800 mounted on the bottom of the bracket that came with my Edge 1030. I've noticed considerable vibration and noise coming from the light when riding on bumpy roads. Putting a small piece of fuzzy Velcro inside the bottom of the light mount seems to help but the small sliver pin on the mount at the hinge point, keeps working its way out. see photo. I sent this photo to Garmin tech support and they are shipping me a new bracket. Looks like this mounting arrangement needs a little work. also beware, if you put your bike in a vehicle and bend turn the front wheel, the brake cable can get caught under the light. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1361097.jpg
  • I have the HL500 head light, and 1030 out front mounts on both of my bikes. I just went out and attached the head light to both of the mounts. The connection seems "okay" - the light is easy to rotate into position on both mounts, but not very firm when in the fully forward position. I haven't ridden either bike with the head light on, so I don't know if there is any rattle. Has anyone had issues with the HL500 light?

Having read of the issues with the UT800, if I had to have the light on the Edge 1030 mount, I would put a length of electrical tape around the light to keep it from rattling and/or falling off. (Just until Garmn has a fix, of course.)
