UT 800 light rattles on 1030 mount

When my UT 800 light is attached to the bottom of the 1030 mount there is a bit of play there which means the light rattles.
The older but slightly shorter mount which came with the light does not have this problem
Is the underside of the new mount only designed for the battery pack and is there a compatible longer 1030 mount available for my light?
  • I had the same issue. Ended up just tightening the screws on the 1/4 turn adaptor. Problem solved.

Which screws on the 1/4 turn adapter are you referring to?
  • I have three of the Garmin 1030 out front mounts, [...] and a Light&Motion Taz1500 mounted to them...

Apologies for the diversion, but how did you connect your Taz to the 1030 mount? I can't figure out what kind of adapter I need, or where to source it.

On the unit (picture attached) if you turn it upside down you will see two small screws with hex heads. I found those were loose on mine. This means the rubber in the middle of the mount doesn't seat firmly against the out front mount.

Can Shawn from Garmin please verify this? That the two small screws with hex heads tighten then the 1/4 adapter on the out-front mount?

Just tried and problem persists, this is not the solution unfortunately.

I have the same problem. My light actually wobbled loose and fell onto my front wheel towards the end of a long ride earlier this year.

I purchased a replacement flange mount adapter (part 010-12494-00) for $15 plus postage in February, thinking I had a faulty part. At first it was tight as a drum with no movement whatsoever. However it has progressively become looser and now wobbles as much as the old one.

I’ve also tried tightening the two screws but that doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I’ve raised a support call with Garmin and am waiting on a response and have stopped using the light in the meantime.

Exactly the same here, minus the light falling off the mount, however I have stopped using it as I suspected this was coming. After every ride it become progressively looser.

So GARMIN now we know the issue and the worst case scenario has happened will you finally take action????

First of all you need to warn ALL users of this and then ASAP somehow rectify the problem for EVERYONE.

I used the GoPro adapter for the Taz and mounted it on the quieter turn adapter for the Garmin mount.

+ 1 to also having the UT800 Garmin mount/adaptor rattle issue. I've used both the 1030 mount and UT800 mount with original adaptor and a second one purchased in thinking I just had a faulty original adaptor that came with the UT800. Adaptor started off with a tight and snug fit, but over time gradually increased the amount of play and subsequently rattle. I also removed the light every few days for charging.

When I couldn't drown the rattle out with headphones nearly on max, I relented and subbed in an old K-Edge XL combo mount I had lying around and now it's all tickety-boo. Bit fidgety to get the cable in to charge it every other day, but I can live with that over the rattle!

Sounds like I need to make a call to Garmin support....
