My Edge 1030 has only uploaded 3 - 4 of my rides via WiFi. Most days, I'm having to import a file to Garmin Connect. When I look, WiFi is connected to my network.
Does anyone have an idea of what to do so that this feature works every time I ride?
I noticed a while ago that my 1030 will only auto upload through my phone if the Garmin connect app has been opened before i press save after my ride. So either i open the app before my ride or i do it just before i save my ride so it uploads. The WiFi is very flakey so i don't bother. Also leaving it on would use more power as the unit searches for a WiFi connection i would guess?
Today i did a short ride and noticed with my Iphone 7 connected/Garmin connect app open in the background that on ending my ride it did not auto update on new firmware 3.50. However when i turned the WiFi on it did upload it after prompting it! I've noticed if WiFi is on and connected if you hit the power on/off button to sleep mode and press it to wake up straight after it prompts upload/download syncing to occur. Wish i hadn't bought mine.........
Just did a short indoor ride whilst on WiFi connection and got the ride auto uploaded shortly after saving the ride. Did not have a phone connection as i hadn't pre-opened Garmin connect app which seems to be the only way to have it for me. On 3.40 i get text messages on my unit but no auto upload via phone unless connect app is open in the background. Will see if this is still the same on 3.50 when i can get out.
How do you know if you Sync via WFI or via Bluetooth ? When I save my ride both connections are working and I assume WIFI does the job, but I would not bet on that. For sure If I open GCM it syncs again but that does not mean much for me.
