Edge 1030 Crash

My edge 1030 has randomly crashed while I have been going through the settings. Today for the first time it crashed at the end of a ride, as it was saving the activity. As a result the fit file was corrupted and could not sync. I had to delete the activity manually. I have saved the file and the error log text. The only change I had made to the device was activate the auto pause function.
Has anyone else had this issue? For a premium product I would not expect this.
  • Constantly. It crashes mostly when following courses or calculating routes. Yesterday I had about 6 or 8 crashes.
  • I am including the error log if anyone can explain what went wrong?
  • Looks like Bluetooth again.
    "Name: BTM main Error"

The bane of these connected devices.
Out of interest, what phone platform and what version of Garmin Connect are you using? GCM - Settings - Version.
Latest iOS is 3.22.4.1. I've not any crashes recently.
  • I do not see any real difference in behavior from 3.2 to 3.4. Occasionally, my unit freezes up after a ride, after ending livetrack and uploading the file while it is having me walk through the data screens. Often on the last screen the unit locks up and I need a long press of the off button to fix the issue. I had that issue with 3.2 and I continue to have it on 3.4. I think it may have something to do with whether livetrack or the ride uploads first but I am not positive.

I am pairing my 1030 with Garmin speed sensor, Garmin cadence sensor, Garmin HR strap and Samsung S7E (running latest GC software and latest Verizon phone software). So the only BT connection I have is to my phone. For folks who are having crash issues are you pairing with a phone and a BT sensor?
  • Same thing here. In my case it always crash when I get off course. I have tried to change to only GPS instead of GPS+Glonass and nothing has changed. I have it connected with Vector 2, Giant Ridesense, Varia Vision and Garmin HRM and Iphone 7 plus. If any body gets something that works to fix this issue, please let us know.
  • I had a random crash on v3.5 as well. My unit just rebooted itself for no reason during a ride.
  • I had a crash the other day after about 2mins into a normal ride. Faulting module this time was "CDP Main". No idea what that one is...
Usual stuff for me, BT connection and Livetrack running to iOS 11 Phone with GCM 3.22.4.1. ANT+ only sensors.

Turn off the bluetooth connection of your phone...And it will work! Very disappointed...
  • Crashed on 3.5 for the first time since purchase (cca 10 rides). Worked fine following course and crashed as a direct consequence of trying out the "back to start" function.

The ride record was corrupted, missing the middle part of the ride (showed properly the part from the crash/reboot point to end) even tho total distance, time and elevation were properly recorded. The 2 mentioned issus may even even be separate problems :(, since the data stopped being recorderded some time earlier

Mine does exactly this - off course and the 1030 just turns off. running 3.5, connected to android nexus phone, garmin HR
