Edge 1030 Crash

My edge 1030 has randomly crashed while I have been going through the settings. Today for the first time it crashed at the end of a ride, as it was saving the activity. As a result the fit file was corrupted and could not sync. I had to delete the activity manually. I have saved the file and the error log text. The only change I had made to the device was activate the auto pause function.
Has anyone else had this issue? For a premium product I would not expect this.
  • Edge 1030 crashed again.... right at the end of a ride, after pressing save... the fit file shows on device, but wont open and hence corrupted. I have attached the error log. WIFI is switched off, and only BT is on... I was not following a route. This is not expected from a premium device, and I am considering going back to the edge 520 or 1000. Garmin can take away all the fancy training metrics, if they could only get the functionality of the GPS right.
  • I had rare crashes but now with firmware 3.6 I get tham all the time. I have iPhone 6s and I use OSM maps. Investigating the root cause I found this so far.
-Turning off navigation i.e. nut using a course does not prevent crashes
-Turning off Phone connection on the edge does not solve it. Strange enough I found Bluetooth still active when you do this - no like the edge 1000 where this options shut down Bluetooth, on the 1030 it seems to disable some functions but but BT entirety
-If I turn off BT on the iPhone, no issue so far.
Si these crashed I get seem to be due to the Bluetooth implementation ont the Edge 1030. Disabling BT on the phone seems to prevent them. I will keep testing this configuration.

All my rides with multiple crashes when I'm following a course and I get off of it. In these cases the edge shutdowns after countdown with the advice of change of direction. I thought that navigation course was the problem but I had yesterday a shudown in a ride without following a course.
  • Have had this a couple of times now, usually at the 'Calculating results' stage at the end of a ride (on a turbo, nothing to do with following a course).

I've raised a support ticket with Garmin, assume you guys have done the same? (if not then please do, it only takes a moment).

I'm going to wait to see if/how they respond before taking any further action but for a premium-priced product such as this, this level of unreliability is unacceptable.

Mine crashes at the end of the first interval in the FTP test. Nothing is more maddening than getting full warmed up and mentally psyched to endure a fitness test, then have to abort it, repeatedly. Fix your $#!+ Garmin!

Got a freeze today, right after saving my ride data after a race! No sync was possible afterwards, fit file was corrupted, I had to repair it with Fit File Repair Tool. Very frustrating!

I had two crashes / switched off during separate rides. I think one crash was when my VIRB needed a battery change (which is linked to the Edge 1030), coincidentally,  that is when I noticed that the Edge 1030 had switched off. This was the second time, the first time I only noticed during the last 2 miles or so of the ride that my Edge 1030 had switched off, and I didn't notice anything that may have contributed to it. Both occasions my Edge had plenty of battery life.
