Issues to be solved by an update

Hi,

I was an Edge 1000 owner and sold it to buy the 1030 and for now - second week of use - the only positive aspects are the battery and the screen.
I?ve got problems with
- speed sensor does not mesure the speed for a specific wheel size, only gives about 25% of the real speed.
- Language is set to a country and now the power off menu is in english while the other menus are in portuguese.
- problems with sync the activities with strava and garmin connect by phone. When it happens only works with cable and garmin express.
- The %of climbing is always wrong... but very wrong, places with 10%,15% or more appears like 5% or 6%. The 1000 was very accurate.
- When updating to the latest firmware the unit keeps shutting down after 15 or 20 seconds. I have to reset it to factory default and run the update again.

I use it for indoor cycling and all mountain. Still didn?t test it following a gpx track to see if it works like the 1000... hope that works fine.
That?s a lot of things to solve with updates and makes no sense how Garmin launch it to the market when they know for sometime that for instance de %climb gives wrong values. We shouldn?t be the "guinea pigs" for Garmin.
  • Hi,

It?s a indoor bike, there?s no GPS signal there... that?s the reason. The problem it?s that with the 1000 I measure de wheel and the speed and distance are in a 5% error range.. .with de 1030 the speed and distance are about 50%...

Sorry, was replying to vmojzisek, should have been clearer...
  • Another bug I found: Lifetime Athlete is resetting to YES all the time.

I found that the Edge 1000 has the same problem, other way around:

  • Some other things that need fixing:
-Syncing of locations/waypoints between the 1030 and Basecamp is broken. The waypoint symbol appears differently in basecamp after its been synced to the 1030. The comment field in the waypoints is lost going from basecamp > 1030. Can be retained going 1030>basecamp but is lost in future syncs. Waypoint names are also sporadically shortened.

-Using custom POIs allows you to save points with comments. The ability to display names for user points appears to be broken however, turning on and off makes no difference, points appear on the map but no names.

-Can we please have proximity alerts for POIs enabled

-Can we please have proper phone alerts giving whatsapp and email notification not just calls and texts (as on the 276cx for example)
