My first 1030 would connect but not charge so stopped working shortly into the first ride.
Got it a replacement, set it up again and went for a 75 mile ride with it and my 810 on the handlebars.
Impressions:
Display much bigger and brighter, really impressed.
Battery life good.
Very similar results after 75 miles.
Slight differences in auto pause. 1030 better.
Mileage, average cadence and heart rate agree
Total ascent 2-3% higher on 1030 but variations recording this are seen in all Garmin devices.
Grade totally under recording on the 1030 as reported elsewhere.
I?m keen on climbing hills and the grade issue is a pain and should be a priority for sorting by Garmin.
I have a Fenix watch too and my experience is all Garmin devices are launched too early with beta software but Garmin do work to rectify the issues and a few months in you have the product they should have shipped in the first place.
