How Do I Set/Reset the Odometer?

I just received my new 1030 today to replace my trusty old Edge 800 - quite a culture shock!

I want to set the Odometer on the 1030 which currently reads "0" to the setting on my Edge 800 which reads "17,520" but can't find where to do that.

Can anyone tell me how to set the Odometer on the 1030 to read 17,520 miles?

TIA
  • My text files go back before spreadsheets :) Now I also have a Numbers spreadsheet. In any case, it's easy for the Garmin to get out of sync with Strava / Ride With GPS or my txt/spreadsheets. For macOS users I have finished an App which I'll place on the App Store that edits distances found in Settings.fit and Totals.fit. I call it Edit Edge Data; although it only edits distances in this v1.0 release.
  • My macOS App to set odo and distance values is awaiting App Store approval, but check this out in the meantime:

But rats, it does not handle a rollover, fixed in a subsequent release!

Hi, can you let me know the exact name for the app so I can look out for it?

    Thanks
  • Well, after a few false starts it has passed Mac App Store review. Although ready for sale I do not see it - but it commonly takes awhile for the bits to percolate out.

Just remember that I have tested on only my device, an Edge 1000, so be sure to make FIT backups as I advise in the docs section Disclaimer. That said I will act upon bug reports rapidly, and as well welcome any alien Totals.fit files so I can test on them.

It's called Edit Edge Data ( Edge Edit ):

  • I have fixed Edit Edge Data to handle rollover, available soon on the App Store.

  • Yes it can be reset as I just did if for all 4 of my profiles (road / mountain / gravel / indoor).  Not sure when this function was added or if it was here all along, as I only upgraded from my Edge 1000 to the Edge 1030 back in April of 2019.  So this is my first odometer reset with the 1030.

Any who click on History > Totals > select the profile to reset i.e. Road > Delete > Confirm and you're done.  Repeat for all profiles if you are wanting to reset all to zero for the new year.

  • Yes, it can be reset but the question is how to add mileage. If you upgrade to the 1030 from another device, there is no simple way to add the mileage from the old device to the 1030.

  • Cheracogoff,

No the question was how to reset the odometer, though obviously your question is not.

  • Read the first post again. It states:

"I want to set the Odometer on the 1030 which currently reads "0" to the setting on my Edge 800 which reads "17,520" but can't find where to do that."

  • True, yet the bold question as the name of the thread reads...

"How Do I Set/Reset the Odometer?"
