It took my 1030 about two weeks till it would give me any recovery and fitness info. Pretty sure it has to build a baseline of your fitness level before it gives will display anything.
So do you need to have a power meter to get that information? I think (not positive) that cycling requires a power meter, but somehow for running the VO2max is computed without a power meter.
Upon further investigation that may be the case. I have 20 rides logged in the four weeks I have had it. Still, no info. It only shows "Ride for 10 minutes with heart monitor...... blah, blah."
If a power meter is required I am going to be complaining loudly to Garmin!! One more stupid change and feature removed for many users.
In the manual under Recovery Time it says, You can use your Garmin[SUP]?[/SUP] device with wrist-based heart rate or a compatible chest heart rate monitor to display how much time remains before you are fully recovered and ready for the next hard workout.
Then the next line down, NOTE: The recovery time recommendation uses your VO2 max.
In the section VO2 Max Estimate requires a Power Meter and under Performance Measurements it says Cycling performance measurements require a heart rate monitor and a power meter.
