Edge 1030 Not supported with any phones

Just came off the phone to Garmin support in relation to the connection issues to my iphone 6s on old ios and the new ios and even an S7 and S8 , none of them will hold a connection to the edge , i can get it to connect after some effort however the next start up of the garmin it connects to the device i can see it on the bluetooth list but the edge cant connect.

So Garmin have told me that the edge 1030 is not on the compatibility list for any phones so will not work, tried to explain that all the advertising is pointed towards phone connectivity but yet it will not work , False advertising maybe ill take this up with their team.
So as of now I have a 1 week charity cycle where i was due to use my garmin for tracking but it does not work, looks like im going to have to but another device and put this one back
  • I want to apologize for the confusion but the Edge 1030 is indeed compatible with iOS. Your phone should work fine with this product.
  • I have not had any issues pairing my 1030 with my s7e. The only problem I is self inflicted when I forget to turn on bluetooth on my phone (I normally leave it off).
  • Well given up should have never bought this devices it just does not work I have tried everything.

i has a massive charity event this week and because garmin could not even stnc my rides or send out tracking as it could not sync to my phone I had to but a battery pack and use my phone and Strava what a waste of time and money.

sending it back as soon as I get back from my charity event.

Support from garmin has been atrocious, I?ll be putting my garmin lights back too as they drop in and out and my will be sold on, just unusable

so I?d suggest you get somthing that works.

My Garmin Edge 1030 works very well connecting to my iPhone SE. My iphone is on the last version of iOS 10; I haven't yet upgraded it to iOS 11.

When setting my Edge up, initially it coughed - I had to leave the devices for 20 mins whilst I was in the middle of the setup. During that time, the phone then switched itself off and the Garmin got bored waiting for the phone. Deleting the edge devices from the Garmin connect app, then from the bluetooth settings on phone (remember to remove both Edge 1030 and the BT_Edge 1030 entries) fixed that problem. On a subsequent ride, my phone and Edge didn't auto connect via bluetooth, but going to the Garmin (Connected Features / Phone) setting showed the connection as disabled. Enabling that, the devices then connected - and they have done so automatically and very reliably ever since.

Happy my Samsung S8 connects with the 1030, where it wouldn't connect to the 1000.
  • I'm having same issue as 1030 connects via bluetooth no problem but cannot get BT1030 to connect consistently?!? very frustrating!!! took me 15min to get it to connect before my ride today then 1hr in I went to search for Strava segment and BT1030 was NOT connected? 1030 was connected fine.
  • I have the same issue having trouble getting the Edge 1030 to hold a bluetooth connection with with iPhone 6S running latest IOS 11.3. Fortunately I can sync my rides over WiFi to Garmin Connect and Strava. This is very frustrating.
  • Just curious.... for those that cannot connect or are having trouble maintaining a connection, did you initially set up and pair your phone via GCM?
  • i can see it on the bluetooth list but the edge cant connect.

Sorry to bump this thread, but OP it sounds like your issue is that you're trying to pair through the BT settings menu when you should be trying to pair directly through the GCM app.
  • I've tried EVERYTHING, and my iPhone 7 Plus will not reliably sync to the Edge 1030. It says "connected". But, syncing doesn't work at all. There are definitely huge Bluetooth issues with the 1030. Went back to using my Edge 1000 again today which has working Bluetooth with iOS. Still waiting for a 1030 firmware that has a reliable Bluetooth implementation. Is there an ETA on that? Should I call Garmin as well?
