Just got my 1030 and I did not had any issues with the device on my first ride. My only issue is that Garmin Express keeps telling me I have 3 apps to update, but when I hit update all (or just update one of them) the software just sits there seemingly doing nothing. I can sync the device just fine through the software (uploading routes works fine). I just can't seem to update the 3 pre-installed apps (TrainingPeaks, Strava Routes and Best Bike Split Race Sync).
Problem solved. I had not connected the apps yet. Once I opened the apps and logged in the update message went away and garmin express said everything was up to date.
