Yes, the Garmin paired with the Iphone on the first try out of the box and every time I turn the 1030 on it pairs with the Iphone and it stays paired for the entire ride. Two of the other 1030 owners I ride with also have had no problem pairing their Iphones.
No, I have not tried using the remote yet. I understand my post was off topic but I was responding to peleotonbikes post which did not comment on the remote. I realize that the remote has problems with the 1030 and I have been trying to keep up on the situation to determine if I should buy a remote. I just don't understand all the other problems that users are experiencing.
I also don't understand why it is taking Garmin so long to produce a fix for the remote. I'm beginning to think that it is a hardware problem and a fix may not be possible.
I don't have a remote because from plenty of reports they are unreliable. To Cheracogoff, I am not baffled by all the negative comments as there are a lot of issues with the 1030 that haven't been fixed.
Your comments about your 1030 working fine echo comments I have see before about other devices working fine, but some other people having issues. It sounds like you don't use all of the functions of the 1030 that are supposed to be available.
The point I was trying to make is I'm sure Shawn is doing pretty much everything he can to resolve the issues. If you aren't happy with Shawn's response you need to contact garmin support to raise an issue directly
Peteonbike I think I have tried just about all the functions of the 1030 and all of them work fine for me. I have tried the Garmin segment feature and it works better than I thought it would. I still have to try group tracking but live tracking works fine. I was going to wait until the remote issue is cleared up but I'm going to go ahead a buy a remote now to see if I can finally find something that does not work correctly on the Edge. I'll post back how the remote is working out after I ride with it several times.

What I want to point is that some functionalities are not working OK , maybe are more bugs, but users don't know about them :)
