Phone Connection issues

My 1030 arrived. I installed the firmware update 3.2 Running Android 8 on a Google Pixel.
The phone connected at first. Sometimes it connects fine upon booting. Other times I will have to keep rebooting the 1030 to get the bluetooth to reconnect to my phone. Other times this doesn't work and I have to remove my 1030 within Garmin Connect and re-assign the device (it then shows up again and eventually runs back into connection issues). I'm not having issues connecting my phone to other devices at the moment...
I was hoping to find this may be a software thing before I think about returning / exchanging.
I'm pretty sure the 1030 is not 'Discoverable' until you remove the connection and set it back up, so I'm not sure what other troubleshooting can be done. Meaning, I don't see a way to manually connect it through Android settings without removing and reconnecting in Garmin Connect.
Has anybody else ran into this?
--EDIT-- Rebooted the Edge a few more times and it connected once again. The prevous times I left it sit for 10 minutes without connection.

My Edge 1030 has had no issues (so far) with wireless connectivity or GPS connectivity. However, it and my phone disconnect whenever the phone goes to sleep (which is often, since the phone sleeps after 30 seconds to conserve battery). When I turn the phone back on, the two do not do not automatically reconnect. Rather than rebooting the Edge, I have just turned off BT on the phone, then turned it back on. The two instantly reconnect. However, this doesn't do a lot of good, since they disconnect as soon as the phone goes to sleep 30 sec later. Obviously the BT ride features (send/receive texts, emergency location in case of accident, etc.) don't work during rides, which I thought was one of the main selling points of the unit.

Further info: phone is a Google Pixel running Android 9, has had no other connectivity issues with other BT devices.
  • My phone (Samsung S6 edge+) isn't picked up by the edge 1030, the only way to get it to connect is to power cycle bluetooth on the phone. They broke something with firmware 4.0 and it still doesn't work with 6.30.

I have sent an e-mail to the edge beta team and have received no reply, hopefully it means that they know about the issue and are working to resolve it. Each time I have to go through this ritual before a ride and it's only more inconvenient now that it's cold and I have full finger gloves.

Please send info to edge beta at [email protected], maybe if they get more e-mails they will raise the priority.
  • My S7E seems to connect as long as I have GC running on my phone. I don't consider that a burden. I seem to recall that with GC off it seems like it connects some of the time. Take the last statement with a grain of salt since I do not remember the last time I rode without running GC on my phone.

With my 1030 and Pixel 2 - I find quite regularly mid ride the BT connection will drop, or does not connect at all on startup - if I restart the "Connect" app on the phone, it fixes the problem - extremely frustrating as I normally have my Fenix 3 paired 24\7 and this never disconnects
