Phone Connection issues

My 1030 arrived. I installed the firmware update 3.2 Running Android 8 on a Google Pixel.
The phone connected at first. Sometimes it connects fine upon booting. Other times I will have to keep rebooting the 1030 to get the bluetooth to reconnect to my phone. Other times this doesn't work and I have to remove my 1030 within Garmin Connect and re-assign the device (it then shows up again and eventually runs back into connection issues). I'm not having issues connecting my phone to other devices at the moment...
I was hoping to find this may be a software thing before I think about returning / exchanging.
I'm pretty sure the 1030 is not 'Discoverable' until you remove the connection and set it back up, so I'm not sure what other troubleshooting can be done. Meaning, I don't see a way to manually connect it through Android settings without removing and reconnecting in Garmin Connect.
Has anybody else ran into this?
--EDIT-- Rebooted the Edge a few more times and it connected once again. The prevous times I left it sit for 10 minutes without connection.

I too am having problems with telephone connection one time though the other times not. Everything reset and reinstall is the temporary solution. I have iPhone 5 iOS 11.1 and on the Garmin Garmin 1030 the last update also conect mobile is the latest update installed. hopefully an improvement in aanbreggen 1030 update here.

It seems that Edge 1030 is affected by the same Bluettoth issues of the Fenix 5 series.....This is going to keep me on hold on it since I'm more than disappointed with my Fenix 5X.
Waiting for the proper resolution by Garmin before placing the order.

Same problems, losing bluetooth connection after turning the Edge 1030 off and on again. All other bluetooth devices work perfectly with the iPhone 7+. Find it impossible to reconnect with the usual iPhone pairing process, it finds BT_Edge 1030, but cannot find Edge 1030. So have to use the Garmin Connect app, but even with this, it gets stuck, the only way I can consistently get it to work is uninstall the app, and download it again, can't find a way to delete the Edge 1030 and start afresh. Very frustrating, Garmin have really dropped the ball here, apart from this issue the 1030 is a superb bike computer. I keep checking for an updated firmware, got one today but it is only a map upgrade.
  • We are researching phone pairing and connection issues with our devices. Apologies for the frustrations but please know we are working on a resolution.

I have had my 1030 for about a week now and gone on 4 rides. All is pretty fine and dandy except the unit won't stay connected to my iPhone 8+. It connects and says/thinks it's connected but won't relay text messages or notifications or upload to GC after my ride is done.

Here's an image of what it keeps telling me.

Wifi is disabled. I enable it when I get home and it finds my internet access quickly and uploads in a second.

I need to unpair and repair the unit to my phone after each ride. That's terrible because the way you designed the new system makes it over complicated and drawn out.

Can we please get this fixed?

    Thank you.

    Hi

Facing the same issue with Garmin FR 235 and FR 920XT pairing with Honor 8 Pro.

For some reason I am unable to connect my Garmin Sports watches with the Honor 8 Pro. The BT pairing code keeps refreshing every second and hence I am unable to key it in before it refreshes again. Finally I get the Connection Timed Out Error. This happens only with the 8 Pro. All other phones I have tried have no issues at all.

Am really frustrated now! Any help in resolving this is highly appreciated.

Here’s a detailed video of the issue as well -

  • Hi,

    +1

I'm facing the same issue with Edge 1030 and iPhone 6sPlus on iOS 11.1.1.
If I disable WiFi on the Edge 1030, then it will connect via Bluetooth. If WiFi is enabled, it won't, even if I go thru the steps of forgetting the device and trying to re-pair.
  • Hi ppl,
I am also facing the same problem. With wi-fi on the Edge 1030 does not connect to my android. If I turn off wifi the Edge pairs like a charm.

It's unbelieveble how garmin releases this product with this price, and does not even test it properly!

And more... I am not able to start live track with facebook option active when language is in Portuguese.... weird!!!
  • Garmin do my head in. I had a 810 that had constant bluetooth connection problems. Like a fool I upgraded to a 1030. Basically the same problems all over again. I've got a Galaxy S8+. Latest software on both devices. Rarely connects. So tried removing it from both devices and the Garmin Connect app. Now can't even add it back. It says "completing setup of your Edge 1030 device" in the app and never completes. Just says fails to connect. Then tries again.

Is anyone proud to work for Garmin?

Has this ever been fixed. Worked fine on 6.0 but completely broke with 6.0. Ugh
