Ride Files Not Uploading

My ride files will not upload following a ride through my bluetooth connection or WiFi, either manually or using auto upload. I can connect to both iPhone and WiFi. Tried deleting devices and a factory reset, still no luck. In addition, when I try to sync with my phone from Garmin Connect Mobile, I get the same message over and over: "Your device appears to be busy, sync failed. Please try again later." I have downloaded and updated to the newest version of Garmin Connect Mobile. Livetrack works, text messages show up on the 1030 while riding, and I can sync through the computer with Garmin Express. When I first add my phone connection with the 1030 through Garmin Connect Mobile, it seems to sync fine, but thereafter fails. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

Mine is doing the exact same thing...

So far I've only been able to upload thru Garmin Express and I get the same "Device appears busy" message in GCM.
When I look in my iPhone's BT control panel, I can see 2 separate profiles for the 1030 ( "Edge 1030" and "BT_Edge 1030")....not sure if this is part of the problem, but only the "Edge 1030" profile seems to be active.

  • Those 2 connections are for classic Bluetooth and also BLE, they both need to be active for GCM to work properly . Try using Garmin Express for uploading.
  • DC Rainmakers advice on resetting the connections is as follows (taken from the comments on the 1030 review)

For totally re-setting connections on the Edge 1030, be sure to complete the following:

    A) Remove pairing on Edge 1030
    B) Remove BLE pairing on settings on phone
    C) Remove BT pairing on settings on phone
    D) Delete Edge 1030 from Garmin Connect Mobile
    E) Airplane mode on
    F) Kill/close GCM app

    Then start from fresh.
  • Thanks for the heads up on the DC Rainmaker reset procedure. I just followed it and it synced just fine. Seems the airplane mode on is the part I missed in the past, and it appears to be a critical element.

I have this issue in the UK. Tried DCR instructions to no avail. Looked at the bluetooth connections on my iphone 7 and this is what ive found- Turn the 1030 on and Garmin 1030 is connected ok but BT_Edge 1030 is not. Open Garmin connect mobile app and it is. If i leave Garmin connect mobile app open in the background and finish a ride it auto uploads after i press save. A work-around until a update fixes it all i hope!
  • Anyone got any further with this?
  • If you have only one of the 2 connections working then you need to go back to the start and try the DCR procedure again.

I’m having the same issue of the auto upload not working consistently. If I turn my phone to airplane mode, it works on WiFi with no problem.
  • Found I had 2 1030's on the phone somehow. One BT one just 1030. Deleted phone from gps and gps from phone then repaired them from the phone. That worked.

This process seems to be flawed, How can you perform A then B?

If I Remove the phone then BLE and BT cant be removed??

I tried this process in various different ways at least 15 times to no avail. :(

Extremely frustrating you buy what is suppose to be the best cycling computer and the second most important feature only to recording the ride DOESNT BLOODY WORK.

Very poor s/w design guys. Very annoying...
