GPS unreliable

I bought my wife a Swim 2 primarily to record OW swims. When we review the activity the GPS track and distance recorded are nearly always completely wrong.

We hoped the reason was that the watch was underwater (worn on the wrist with *** stroke), but for recent swims she's attached it to her swim float. Today she attached her Swim 2 and my Instinct to the float and the results are completely different - the Instinct recording a much more accurate GPS track (1200m Vs <400m on the Swim 2).

She likes the watch and reviews say the Swim 2 is very accurate but I might have to suggest we send it back unless anybody has any suggestions.

  • I never saw a review that claimed that the Swim 2 was anywhere near correct. If so, it was a marketing scam. The swim 2 is good for counting strokes, but the distance with the watch under water is completely fabricated and with the watch above water it suffers from abysmal bad reception. Today I stood still at the beach above water and the watch claimed 30 seconds long that I was moving with between 5 and 10 meters per second. And even a rowing boat activity recorded as swim (to count the strokes) where I was of course the whole time above water had some long gaps in the gps recording.
