swim2 will not find GPS

i have a swim2 watch.
everything worked perfectly until i got back from a tirp
now i am back home and it will not find GPS.
i tried:
- using GPS only/GPS+GLONASS/GPS+GALILEO
- soft reset (20 sec power)
- hard reset - delete all
- pressing all four buttons and getting funky colors screen
- connecting with USB to PC and deleting the REMOTESW folder as was suggested in some forum answer

nothing seems to help :/

the service point is pretty far from my home
any ideas how can i fix myself?

  • Check on menu item "about/CPE". If it is "current", you need clear view of the sky, and some patience. If it is "expired", you need to sync with phone Garmin Connect, or Garmin Express on PC (update CPE file to current).

  • i got CPE:curent, but it will not connect even after long time.
now got back from the beach - clear view , let the watch stay static several times until it goes to power save mode and it will not find. not GPS not GPS+GALILEO
on about menu i stil see GPS:0.00.

software version 3.10 not sure if problems started after update

  • Seems that you lost the GPS software. It Should be 5.40.

    on the menu I see:

    GPS: 5.40

    ANT/BLE: 2.80

    Sensor Hub: 18.01

    CIQ: 1.4.5

    WHR: 5.00.05

I guess you need the GPS software from Garmin, ask for it from the support.

  • thanks for your help!
where is the GPS software is located? in the GARMIN/GPS folder that is in my watch?
could you send me the files yourself?
    thanks!

  • I too am having the same issue, but less extreme. Since about 7/2024 my Swim 2 takes forever to find a GPS signal for run/bike/open water swim. For the past 3 years it has been faultless and would find a GPS signal, even in built up areas, very quickly- no more than 30 seconds. Now it can take 5 mins plus? Yes, I have the latest software, have connected to Garmin Connect, soft reset, not moved!  Anyone else having this problem? (I also noticed the same problem with my Garmin Edge 1040 cycling computer at the same time, but this seems to have resolved itself within a few weeks). Thanks
