Garmin Swim 3 ???

Swim 2 is almost 4 years old now.
Is it expected Garmin Swim 3 to be released  soon ?
Is there  any info about that?
We wait for such device with new hardware and improved accuracy and functionality.

  • A question: Is there a feature on the Swim 2 that has never yet appeared on any other Garmin?

I have been watching for maximum overlap at the lowest cost. Usually when a Garmin Watch is mentioned here as a progression from the Swim 2 invariably someone will mention that "...but that Garmin Watch doesn't have feature X, that I regularly use."

Taking away form factor, cost, shape, just purely features, is there a Garmin Watch that completely replicates every feature on the Swim 2?

    E g. Fenix 7, Epix g2, a Marq?

The Forerunner 165, Venu 3, Vivofit 5, all mostly overlap with the Swim 2, in size, features, lower price, but the missing features kill it for some. (Even if those also have many advantages)

  • Is there a feature on the Swim 2 that has never yet appeared on any other Garmin?

In my opinion no, see for example

  • What feature do you want that is not in the 165, for example?
The other way around, the Swim2 lacks so much in comparison…

  • I get your point, but I intentionally meant for it this way.  I understand there a many new features available over a five year old watch.

People using and happy with their Swim 2 sometimes reply, I cannot upgrade to this new watch with all of these new features because that new watch does not have this function X, that is on the Swim 2 and I need and want that feature.

The earlier poster nailed it with the comparison tool.

My watch (745) and all the multisport forerunners, Fenix, and Epix all have 100% of the features that exist in the Swim 2. The Forerunner 165 does not, nor the Venu, Vivofit, etc.

The last little thing though, is that of all the watches that perfectly match the functionality of the Swim 2 (Epix, Fenix, multisport Forerunners) none of them are quite as thin and light as the Swim 2.   We are talking one or two millimeters, and one or two grams, but for completeness there is that.

  • I understand, but I do not think that this theoretical exercise is very relevant, as each one of us has its own interests and red lines…
And in any case there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” or, in a different perspective, you will NEVER have anything beautiful+good+cheap (at the same time)… ;)

  • Perhaps.

Though if Garmin sells a new product that is lighter, cheaper, and more full featured than the swim 2, without any compromises in functionality, that would be a very nice sell to a currently happy Swim 2 user whose watch is getting a bit raggedy.

Clearly it is technologically, and from a manufacturing perspective, possible to do this. And it doesn't seem to be in Garmin's interest to manufacturer and market a Swim 3...that is their prerogative.  This question is if there is different watch that's a superset of the Swim 2

For the most part "Yes" The Forerunner 255s is probably the closest one-to-one replacement for the Swim 2.

255s has everything the Swim 2 has, and is only a minuscule amount differently shaped.  The 255s also has all those extras you mentioned.

  • Thinking the same.  I am using a Garmin 165 (replacing the Swim2 which cannot charge anymore) and I think it is at the same price when I got my Swim2 many years back (with a lot more features).  Frankly, I don't think they will release a Swim3 because when Swim2 was released, there were fewer options available at that price/weight/size/features/connectivity.

  • I only could add:

    - emoji in created workouts and notifications

    - sleep/recovery tracking

As I know it exists even in Forruner 245, but not swim2
