How can I start swim session with a drill?

I always start my swim sessions with a drill to warm up.  I can record the first interval as a drill when using my 735xt.  But I cannot find a way to do it with my new Swim 2.  I can only record drill sessions after starting my session with a swimming interval.  Is this a software limitation or am I missing something?

  • How can you reach the drill option without starting recording on 735XT?

In Swim2 maybe it is SW limitation, or something on purpose. However if you start recording, stop it with the lap button immediately without swim, you can choose drill log afterwards. One extra button press, and the first lap wont be counted as swimming lap.

Hi PG, thanks for your reply.  When using my 735xt, I have drill mode enabled.  Then I press top right button to activate pool swim.  Next press starts swim timing, but before I press that I scroll through the available screens until I get to Drill Log. Then top right button starts Interval 1 as a drill.

Thanks for your advice for the Swim 2.  In fact I had figured out the same workaround when I did my next swim.  In Garmin Connect the drill is Interval 1, just what I want.  There are two short rests included before Interval 1 which I don't get when I use my 735xt.  But that's ok.
