Mixed stroke detection

Hi,

I have just finished my 1st indoor pool swim. I swim in a 20 meter pool. My 1st 800 meters swimming freestyle were recorded correctly. My 2nd 400 meters I swim mixed stroke, since I use breaststroke as a recovery stroke in between freestyle 40 meter sprints. I finished the session with a 400 meter cool-down, all freestyle. My workout was uploaded and consisted of a totalswim distance of only 820 meters! The 1st 800 meters was recorded correctly, but nothing else?

Q1. In between each set, I pressed STOP, then RESUME. Is this the correct thing to do? Or must I use the LAP button to change sets.

Q2. Does the Swim 2 have the ablility to detect mixed strokes in one set? Page 7 of the manual seems to suggest it does.

  • A1: Use the LAP button. Stop and resume is for the case when mistakenly pressed stop button. Stop is for saving the activity afterwards. Check my other post on bug reports. If you used the stop/resume with auto rest function, that immediately explains the false recording because of the existing bug. Actually with auto rest you do not have to push any button (but laps and drills are allowed). If not in auto rest, the watch still can miss some turns, but I guess not the full second half of your swim. In that case check the total swim time to evaluate if it was recording your whole swim.

A2: It definitely can record mixed swims. (for me the stroke detection is off mostly, can be my fault, but distance is correct) For the individual lap detected strokes check decktop Garmin Connect data.
