Forerunner 970 – Raise to Wake brightness at night (AOD on)

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed something with my Garmin Forerunner 970 and I’m wondering if others are seeing the same behavior.

When I’m running at night in areas with no street lighting, and Always-On Display (AOD) is enabled, raise to wake works, but the screen brightness after lifting my wrist looks almost the same as the AOD brightness. It doesn’t appear to get noticeably brighter.

However, when I move into a well-lit area (for example under streetlights), the screen clearly becomes brighter after raise to wake.

Is this expected behavior because of the ambient light sensor adjusting brightness automatically? Or could this indicate a setting issue or hardware problem?

Would appreciate feedback from other Forerunner 970 users.
