Very sluggish maps

I have to wait over 30s for the map to update. Is it the same in your case? What could be the issue?

    Looks like you have this extremely zoomed out with full detail displayed, so there's a lot of data to render. How does it perform when zoomed in to a more sensible level? e.g. 1km across the screen. At this, mine takes 4-5s to render a new screen of map after panning sideways into a blank area, which seems fine for a relatively low-powered, long-battery life device and, in practice, you never see this anyway as it updates during the activity.

    You look like you're indoors where GPS will be very poor. What happens when you stand outside and pick up a GPS lock before opening maps?
