Unable to connect through usb

I'm unable to connect to the watch using USB in any way. I want to transfer some music files from my library. This used to work just fine, but now I simply can't get any connection at all. I've tried on my Kubuntu system, on an Android phone (using the USB cable) and on a Windows 11 laptop. None of these are working. I've also tried Garmin Express, but it doesn't detect the watch at all. It seems the watch is trying to setup a data connection, but aborts after a few seconds. The windows 11 laptop kept giving the audio feedback of a USB device being connected and disconnected over and over again.

Is this a problem with the 15.16 software update? I've managed to transfer music files to my watch when a bought it, but now it's not working anymore.

  • Are you able to sync with Garmin Express? If it worked before, and not now, my first guess would be a bad USB cable. Especially since you are getting intermittent connections. It could also be a bad USB port on the computer but not as likely.

  • No Garmin Express doesn't detect the watch at all. It keeps searching for the watch. I've tried 3 different cables, all with the same outcome. I'm pretty sure it's something with the watch, not with the cable or the laptop/phone on the other side. Given the fact that it worked before, my guess is the software version on the watch. So I'm wondering if others with the 15.16 software version are having issues with USB connectivity.
