Hi Guys, I've still not had the confidence to buy the FR970 as I've been put off by the reported 'laggy' maps and apparent unreliable turn by turn navigation notifications which are important for me. Under the 5kRunner website there is a recent article about this issue which says: The Workaround: Manually Importing the Route File Until Garmin provides an official fix for this synchronisation failure, the community has identified one reliable temporary solution: Use a dedicated, external mapping tool, such as Plotaroute, to create a course and generate a standard FIT file that is confirmed to contain the turn directions Manually connect the watch to a computer and copy this working FIT file directly into the watch’s /Garmin/New Files folder I was just wondering whether anyone here is still having Turn by Turn navigation errors and, if so, does this workaround solve the issue... at least for the time being. Hi, the article you mention is derivate from here on the forum, i'm in touch with 5kRunner. GC Web/App no more Turn Notifications for newly synced courses

FR955 is concerned because it's a Garmin Connect problem, so the solution is to use Plotaroute or equivalent.

Turn prompts for navigation along courses suddenly disappeared (FR955, Software Version 26.08)

Using Plotaroute ==> WORKING on my Fenix 7X

create a FIT file with turn direction
- then manual copy to "<watch>/Garmin/New Files"
- Watch notification and Audio Prompts are OK

Select type : Trail Run or Hike
Then create the route with Turn Notification toggle ON
No Turn Notification - only the final distance announced

I'm happy, because i wasn't silly opening this Bug Report 15 days ago ... but it's not relevant to F7 specific beta but Garmin Connect

Since beta 23.35 - Courses navigation - sync courses --> Turn Notification not included, newly created and old ones

That works also on my side. Before only tracks created with Garmin Connect did work. Problem on my side Enduro 3 and Fenix 7. As ususl no support from Garmin just default answer please check blabla and update watch etc.

I had just upgraded to the Enduro 3 a few weeks back and have been struggling to get turn by turn working.
I had pulled the FIT files off the watch and there was no Turn by Turn course points present vs my older 955 having them which hadn't been used for a month and so courses hadn't been resync'd.

But i always setup my courses under Trail Running course type.

I have just exported 3 of my courses from Garmin Connect Web as GPX, reimported them under the Running Course Type and then send to my Enduro 3.
Took the FIT files off the watch for the Trail Running and Running course type and yeah Running course type has Turn by Turn course points present in the FIT while the Trail Running course type is missing the Turn by Turn course points.
This was valid for my 10.3 mile course and 100 mile course.
The only exception was my tiny trial course 0.2 miles which did have Turn by Turn. But the Trail Running course type only had 3 turns in it vs 4 in my Running course type. So it might have clipped the Turn by Turn output, but would need to do more testing with shorter courses to know for sure.

So great find on the cause.
Was starting to concern me as have a few races coming up and Turn by Turn just makes life so much easier.

My case was yesterday, because another one is open under the beta program and followed by Laurie. But i do not have the case number, i do not receive any feedback since 2 weeks at that side.

I'm really very tired by this Gamrin lack of communication and process

Hi, daniscross obtain a feedback from Garmin support:

This should be fixed now

"A backend fix for this has been released to Connect and applies to newly sent courses. Any affected courses that are currently on your device will need to be deleted from the device. You can then resend the course via Garmin Connect to have the changes take effect. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for your patience while we worked to address this issue."
