Please bring back the simple good old pre workout screen.

With my FR 955 when entering activity, in the screen before start, it was so simple and easy. Up button to options and settings; down button to go for data screens.

Now it takes a lot of clicks to go to the data screens.

Also please bring back the unlimited favorite activities. Why limit it to only 3 and hide the rest?

  • i totally agree with you.

    I have both 255 and 570.

255 is like your 955 and the operations are simple.

    570 is like your 970.

on 570, Now it takes a lot of clicks to go to the data screens; it limits only 3 and hide the rest.

  • Simply assign voice commands to shortcut keys and execute them with voice commands.

That's how to use the latest model, the 970, smartly.

It's a cold winter where I live, and pressing buttons while wearing thick mittens is difficult.

The 970's voice command feature is very effective and convenient.

  • Press the up key down for a ~second and it will bring up the data screens. At least easier than eight(!) clicks to bring it it up scrolling down.

  • I just tried the press the up key for a second and it works. Thank you!

So because it's currently cold where you live, and you wear thick mittens (not gloves?), that means nobody else should use buttons? (not sure if you literally mean mittens, but I've never worn mittens to run, and I run every winter in sub 0 C weather)

I once ran 16 km in -25 C (-40 C with the windchill) with double gloves, and I had no problem pressing buttons on my Forerunner. It was one of the coldest days for my North American city in decades, and that month was the coldest in 100+ years. It was so cold that day that everyone in our regular long run group (a couple dozen people) cancelled and only 2 of us went out, covered head to toe with double layers and no exposed skin. Despite that, I was freaking out because I felt like my eyeballs were drying out during the run.

I think under those conditions, it would've been harder to use a voice assistant as opposed to buttons.

The 970's voice command feature is very effective and convenient.

Does that mean nobody should use buttons and/or Garmin should limit the effectiveness of buttons? Is it not possible for the buttons and voice assistant to co-exist? Are you seriously suggesting that the voice assistant should be the primary mode of operation for FR970?

Can you imagine any situation where pressing a button would be more effective and efficient than using voice commands? For example, running a hard track/interval workout where you take a manual lap at the end of every interval? Or running a road race where you want to start and stop the timer precisely when you cross the start/finish line?

Idk about you, but timing issues aside, I find it a lot easier to press a button than to speak when I'm running very hard.

Even Apple Watch Ultra and the newer iPhones tout the action button as a feature.

That's how to use the latest model, the 970, smartly.

Your entire post is oozing with condescension, and it's also completely out of touch with reality.

Idk if you noticed, but voice assistants kind of failed on phones (Siri, Google Assistant), and in the home (Alexa).

After 14 years, Siri is just kind of a gimmick that people occasionally use to set an alarm or make an appointment - nobody uses Siri as the primary mode of operation for their phone, despite some journalists predicting early on that voice assistants would completely replace apps.

  • Holding up key works, at least is a work around. Than you!

Anywhere we can find all these "hidden" commands and shortcuts?
