I recently got the 970 and HRM 600 strap. I noticed that Step Speed Loss metrics are being generated when I do treadmill runs (using the treadmill activity).
I didn't think SSL could be measured accurately on the treadmill. Does anyone know?

All I can say is it seems to be intentional (not a bug), as the following Garmin marketing page implies that SSL is supposed to measured for treadmill runs:
https://www.garmin.com/en-CA/garmin-technology/running-science/running-dynamics/step-speed-loss/
As you would expect, SSL is typically lower when running uphill and higher when running downhill. Note that inclines are not accounted for when you run on a treadmill, as the treadmill grade is not measured by the watch.
