Some recurring Focus Mode > Voice Alerts no longer working after update to 12.70

After updating to the latest firmware (12.70), my activity voice alerts set up through the Activity profile in the Focus Modes stopped working. They were working on the previous version of the firmware. These are the alerts set up through the following path: Watch Settings > Focus Modes > Activity > Voice Alerts > Pace/Speed Alerts or Heart Rate Alert. I have these set up to 1 minute and 2 minute recurring intervals respectively.

Things I've tried without success to solve this:

  • Turning the entire Focus Mode off and back on
  • Turning the individual recurring alerts off and back on
  • Turning Timer Events, Workout Alerts, Activity Alerts, off and back on
  • Turning the watch itself off and back on
  • Changing the Audio Output setting between Watch or Connected Devices
  • Resetting the entire Focus Mode to "Defaults" and setting up again
  • Setting up alternative activity type Focus Modes that are triggered specifically by the activities I'm doing (Run or Walk)
  • Changing the Alert Tones setting off and back on
  • Last ditch effort of restarting my phone

I should note that it seems there are some other alerts that are in fact working that are triggered by the Lap Alerts. It seems what's not working is triggered by the recurring timed alerts I have set up. Here's some screen shots of my current settings.

I'm not sure what else to try. But this seems like a new bug introduced in the latest firmware since it was working before and suddenly stopped after the update.

I depend on these alerts to aid in my running efficiency. So I need to get them working again.

  • It is ridiculous, very disappointed and quite frustrated that such an important function bug could not be fixed over a month on top and expensive watches such as 970 570 (i am not sure if fenix 8 has same issue)

  • I am experiencing the same issue on F8 51mm: voice prompts during workouts like weights and running are now partially working, but not stable. HR prompts during a weights workout sometimes work, sometimes not, expecially if the phone screen is off. Same thing for the Lap prompts during running. If the voice output is set on watch, then everything is working fine. Of course, this is not the ideal solution, expecially when running, when you prefer to have audio output through you phone/earbuds more than through your watch. In my case, earbuds are paired with the phone, and during running I like to play also music with it. I do not play music through the watch and/or pair earbuds with it. On the other hand, voice output language type/pronunciation is now working fine.

  • Now that 15.07 has been released are you able to confirm if it includes the fix ? (it isn't mentioned in the release notes specifically)

  •   Does Garmin Care about fixing Timed Voice alerts it has been over a month now,  and it seem to be across many watch's both my 970 and Fenix 8  ,, Garmin is fixing little issues but do not seem to care about fixing this core function

  • Unfortunately it has not been fixed in 15.07. Hopefully soon..

  •  Does "fully investigated" mean Garmin has the fix and it will be on the next release

    or

Garmin still does not have a fix and  Garmin understands the scope of the problem and no guess if and when they will fix the firmware ?     It appears this core functionally is affecting   the Fenix 8 lineup, the 970,  570 and others.

  •  Dear Garmin, Let’s Talk. Boom

I’m the proud, frustrated owner of an Enduro 3 — and I’m here in this forum not to complain into the void, but to make sure every other Garmin user dealing with the same silent treatment knows: you’re not crazy, and you’re not alone.

My Enduro 3 stopped giving 1-minute spoken heart rate alerts nearly two months ago. That feature isn’t a gimmick — it’s mission-critical when you’re grinding through a mountain bike race where your heart rate can rocket 20 BPM in seconds. Without those voice alerts, I was basically flying blind.

And guess what? My wife’s brand-new Vivoactive 6 — which I specifically bought for that exact feature — doesn’t give her heart rate alerts either. She was hesitant to leave Fitbit. Now? She’s got every reason to regret it, watching Garmin let this issue rot while pretending everything’s fine.

To everyone else out there dealing with this — I see you. I feel your pain. Ignore the forum philosophers who tell you that “you don’t need spoken alerts.” These are the same folks throwing tantrums over their power meters being 1% off.

Garmin, this isn’t nitpicking — it’s basic functionality that helped athletes stay safe, informed, and in control. You broke it. You’ve had weeks to fix it. And your silence speaks louder than the alerts that no longer do.

    Sincerely,
A cyclist who’s tired of watching premium gear act like a paperweight with Bluetooth. Bicyclist♂️Skull

  • Have to re-edit my last posts: now voice prompts for the workouts I normally do (weights and running) for connected devices do not work at all! During the past week anything Garmin did (if they did) doesn't work at all anymore! It is clear this was one of the features many customers started to rely on, expecially those who practice outdoor workouts. It was perfectly working when the watch was new (in my case F8 51mm titanium) and now an update has damaged it. Not a users mistake, not a drop, not a mobile phone hardware issue: simply a faulty "update". Now, when I open the screen of the mobile device while the prompts should be heard, I see a message telling "voice prompt running", but of course no voice prompt can be heard, either with or without music on. Garmin HAS to do something about it!

  • Glad you finally seen the light,  I told yall it was baked beyond belief..   I should know,  I lift,   MTB,  endurance cycle,  yoga,  bands,  run,  walk,  hike...  I've tested it all..
