Audio output for next exercise/lap

Hello, I'm new to Garmin watches.

When doing e.g. strength training via a daily suggestion with multiple exercises, I usually have my in-ears connected to my phone (due to the easier music interface, automatic connection...)

Is it possible in this case to output the audio prompt via my phone and therefore the in-ears? (maybe even with text-to-speach of the next exercise instead of the beeps)

I don't know if it's currently a bug, but even when setting the audio-output in the strength-workout-settings to 'off', I still got the annoying beeps via the speaker of the watch - only turning down the sounds for the workout focus mode helps.

I only get the beeps on my in-ears when output is set to 'connected device' and I connect the in-ears directly to the watch, but the Bluetooth connection from watch to phone, and concurrently phone to in-ears should allow the audio forwarding.

  • My sounds per workout type can be changed, silent/watch/phone. And it seems to work.
However i believe i have seen some strange behaviours when it comes to these settings. Where it change what: Changed in the activity and/or changed in the focus mode>activity.
For example flashlight settings and touchscreen settings. So it seems to vary and the effect is that you always don't get the selected setting properly in the activity.

    - There is some threads regarding this before, but not audio output case i believe...

  • ok, I tried by setting all alarms to off (as you said, workout settings AND focus mode) and got lucky

The annoying (at least for indoor training, but helpful for outdoor training due to wind...) beeps could only be turned off by focus mode > activity > sound&vibration > alert tones

As I said, I'd like to have this setting per activity...
Or if it would at least route the sound reliably through to my phone (couldn't get this working as you said with my Samsung phone, despite setting every sound output to "connected device")

  • Yes. Also this issue has been discussed in previous threads.

Case: Change system volume during activity - Indicates activity volume changed.
Error: The selected volume is not stored.

General: This forum has no structured way to manage the issues and bugs reported or discussed. No documented ‘known errors’ nor ‘workarounds’, status of resolving errors etc.
So the forum fills upp with doubles, misunderstandings and wishes. A mess.
Garmin please implement a structured process in the forum and connect to devepment and support.

  • The bigger issue is people don't search the forum first before posting the same issues.
