I've just moved over from another brand, this is my first Garmin.
During running the Elevate 5 sensor seems to work perfectly, I use both that or a strap, depending on the distance.
But during the day, just wearing it as I go about my day, the sensor is wildly inaccurate. Fluctuating up and down, sometimes sticking at 10-15bpm off from my actual heart rate.
I've confirmed this by wearing my other watch connected to a chest strap. This isn't an issue I've had with the other watch either, and yes, I'm wearing the watch in the correct position on the wrist and tightness.
Something about how they're using just those two LED's is just not providing accuracy.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?
