Forerunner 970 – Big gaps in Heart-Rate & Body Battery data, watch crashed after ride

Hi everyone,

I’m still having a strange sync issue with my Forerunner 970 (software version 6.17) and would appreciate your thoughts.

What I’m seeing:

• Heart-rate data behaves inconsistently.

• Inside the watch today’s complete HR Data is available and cycling activity (51 km, 1 h 28 min, ended at 18:30) the HR trace is complete and looks normal.

    • I wore the watch sinvestiert yesterday until now.
    • On the watch itself I can scroll through a perfectly continuous heart-rate graph.

• In the daily heart-rate widget graph (Garmin Connect iOS App and web app), everything between 11:20 and 18:30 is blank—only the early-morning resting values and a short block after the workout appear until now. So the workout HR never shows up in the daily timeline, even though it’s stored in the activity file.

• Body Battery never changed from 11:20 to 18:30.

• For that exact period the watch and Connect both show “–”; it looks as if Body Battery logging simply stopped until the watch rebooted after the workout.

• Watch crash after saving the workout.

• When I hit save at 18:30 the watch froze, rebooted, and then synced. After the reboot, HR and Body Battery readings resumed—but the gap from 11:20 to 18:30 remained.

What I’ve tried

• Re-syncing multiple times over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

• Soft reset (power button > 15 s) immediately after the crash

• Force-closing / reopening Garmin Connect on iOS

None of these brought back the missing widget-level HR or Body Battery data.

My questions

1. Has anyone else seen HR appear inside an activity but disappear from the daily graph for the same time window?

2. Is there any way to force Garmin Connect to re-import the sensor data so the 11:20–18:30 gap fills in?

Any ideas or similar experiences are hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Best,

Daniel
